Record Details

NHER Number:25857
Type of record:Monument
Name:Site of Roman building

Summary

Roman tiles and other fragments of building material have been found at this site, suggesting the presence of a Roman building, and part of a possible Roman floor surface was also found during an evaluation carried out by the Norfolk Archaeological Unit in 1992. Roman coins, brooches, pottery fragments and other metalwork have been found by metal detecting, as well as metalwork dating from the Early Saxon to the post medieval period, including coins, brooches, buckles and an unusual medieval horse harness pendant in the shape of a bird. A Bronze Age axehead was also found amongst various medieval and post medieval objects during metal detecting in 2007.
