Summary

Metal detecting on this site has recovered a Late Saxon copper alloy brooch with ornament of interweaving arms extending from the corners of a central lozenge. A colander of unknown date was also recovered.

Full description

1986. Metal detecting.
Field north west of Aslacton Manor House.
Plotted from grid reference supplied by Suffolk Archaeological Unit. Copper alloy disc brooch with cast ornament in the form of interweaving arms emerging from the corners of a lozenge; traces of iron pin on rear See (S1 and S2).
Perforated copper alloy plate with edges turned back like a crude watering can rose. Holes punched through from rear and filed flat at front. Four rivet holes punched through from front for fixing. See (S3).
