Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered Early Neolithic worked and prehistoric burnt flints. Two concentrations of material are indicative of Early Neolithic and prehistoric occupation. Metal-detecting in 2018 recovered a Roman coin.

Full description

20 November 1986. Fenland fieldwalking.
On young winter cereal, weathered soil.
Context 1 general scatter. MTW BY
Odd fragments good quality flint coming up from peat layer.

Context 2 at 7076 9474. MTW 71
Concentration sparse to moderate pot boilers, a few flints. On loam edge, quite pronounced but still peat covered,
above peat filled hollow. 55m north to south x 30m east to west at 1.8m OD.

Context 3 at 7069 9470. MTW 72
Spread of flints and pot boilers, both sparse, on peat covered loam ridge. 45m northeast to southwest x 30m northwest to southeast at 1.4m OD.
