Summary

A scatter of pieces of Roman pot, with four concentrations of material, was identified. Pieces of medieval and post medieval pot were also recovered. Another rim piece of Roman pot was found in a pipe trench.

Full description

4 January 1973.
Scatter of Roman pottery in four concentrations.
Three sherds grey ware, four sherds black, of varying coarseness.
One sherd grey fabric with yellow glaze, medieval.
Two pieces soft orange fabric, undated.
Fragment of iron slag.
Modern brick.
Also a Roman rim sherd of wide necked jar of black coarse ware.
(S1) in KLM, copy in file.
These reveal most sherds found in May 1973.
Rim sherd (found in January) was dug up in a cable trench.
