Summary

These brick garden walls to the west of Ormesby Hall (NHER 8695) were built in the mid 17th century and then repaired and raised in the 18th and 20th centuries. They are capped by a mix of rounded and flat coping bricks and have an overhanging cornice on their interior face that gives a panelled appearance.

Garden walls to west of Ormesby Hall (NHER 8695).
Previously recorded under NHER 8695.

December 1987. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description excerpt:
"Garden walls completely enclosing garden. Mid 17th century, repaired and raised 18th century and 20th century. Brick with some flint. Wall runs west along road from western entrance pier, ramps up to north return, and returns to house enclosing rough square. Exterior face disinclined to symmetry in disposition of brick piers. Rounded coping bricks occasionally give way to patches of flat coping. Interior face with regular brick piers and overhanging cornice giving panelled appearance."
