Metal-detecting in 2007 and 2016 recovered late prehistoric flint blades; Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and undated and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an undated ring; an undated or post-medieval unidentified gilt object; a Roman brooch and hairpin head; an Early Saxon brooch; Middle Saxon brooches, pins and a strap-end; a Late Saxon belt or harness mount, padlock key, strap-end and finger ring or ear ring; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval lead weights, a thimble, dagger guard fragment, scale-tang knife handle plate, horse harness pendant, spindle whorl, lead pot mend and sword or purse pendant mount; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and post-medieval powder charge caps or measures, cloth seals, a lead window came fragment, purse bar fragment, suspension-loop from a purse frame, musket ball and nail or pin.

Full description

January-February 2007. Metal-detecting.
2 Roman coins and 1 hairpin head.
1 Middle Saxon (Thomas Class J).
4 Late Saxon pottery sherds (Thetford type).
1 medieval coin, 2 pottery sherds (1 unglazed, 1 glazed Grimston). 1 lead spindle whorl, 1 buckle frame (gilt), 1 buckle frame, 1 composite strap-end, 1 lead pot mend, 1 roundel dagger composite guard and 1 arched pendant mount.
4 medieval/post-medieval vessel fragments.
2 post-medieval coins, 1 lead window came fragment, 2 buckle frames (inc 1 tinned), 1 purse bar fragment, 1 purse frame suspension loop, 2 lead powder charge caps/measures and 1 lead four-part cloth seal.
