Summary

Metal detecting between 2006 and 2015 recovered prehistoric worked flints, including a Neolithic scraper; Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and tokens and Middle-Late Bronze Age, Roman and Middle/Late Saxon to post-medieval objects. The metal finds include undated metalworking debris, a ring and a weight; a Middle-Late Bronze Age rapier; Roman brooches; a Middle Saxon pin; a Middle/Late Saxon strap fitting; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval harness pendant and thimble; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy ring, sword or dagger pommel; and "paper-clip" rivets and post-medieval furniture fittings, window came fragments, a clapper bell fragment, book clasp, cloth seal, finger ring, harness mount, spur stud attachment and part of a pair of scissors or candle snuffer.

October-November 2006. Metal-detecting.
1 Late Prehistoric/Neolithic flint scraper/knife, 1 flint retouched flake fragment and 2 flint flakes.
27 Roman pottery sherds (26 greyware and 1 ?Oxfordshire mortarium).
1 ?Roman pottery sherd.
1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd (?pimply Ipswich).
1 ?Middle Saxon pottery sherd.
1 Middle-Late Saxon strap fitting fragment.
3 medieval coins, 28 pottery sherds (17 unglazed, 10 glazed, 1 glazed), 1 buckle frame fragment, 1 composite strap-end plate, 2 strap fittings, 1 horse harness pendant and 1 thimble.
1 medieval/post-medieval double-looped buckle frame, 2 vessel fragments, 2 "paper clip" rivets and 4 rings.
1 post-medieval coin, 1 token, 1 jetton, 4 pottery sherds (1 reduced, 2 GRE and 1 Staffordshire press-moulded combed slipware), 1 buckle frame fragment (white metal coated), 1 button, 1 silver finger-ring, 1 strap fitting/harness mount, 1 hooked book clasp, 1 clapper bell body sherd and 1 spur-stud attachment.
1 Undated lead casting jet, 1 lead weight and 1 lump of metal working debris.
