Summary

Metal-detecting between 2006 and 2011 recovered Roman, Early Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman coins and undated, Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include undated lead weights; a Roman medical instrument handle and furniture fitting; Early Saxon girdle hangers and a brooch; a Late Saxon disc brooch; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval ampulla, came, pot mend and harness mount; medieval/post-medieval metalworking debris, a chafing dish fragment, copper alloy ring, rivet, spindle whorl, weight and copper alloy vessel fragments and a post-medieval posy ring, cloth seal, book clasp and furniture fitting.

August-September 2006. Metal-detecting.
1 Roman coin, 1 pottery sherd (greyware), 1 furniture nail/stud and 1 medical implement handle (?scalpel).
1 Early Saxon brooch knob (cruciform type).
1 Late Saxon disc brooch (Borre style).
1 medieval lead ampulla fragment.
1 medieval/post-medieval metal working scrap 1 vessel fragment and 1 vessel repair.
2 post-medieval coins, 1 pottery sherd (GRE), 2 buttons and 2 belt bar mounts.
