Late Upper Palaeolithic flint blades; Iron Age, Roman, Late Saxon and medieval to post-medieval pottery sherds; a medieval roof tile fragment; a medieval hone stone fragment and Roman coins were found as stray finds before 1940 and in 2015, while metal-detecting in 2008 recovered a medieval buckle.

Charles Green (NCM) also noted that on 9 October 1964 he found a box of Iron Age sherds, in the Bronze Age section of NCM stores (see NHER 4537 for details) one of which was marked 'rectory'.

This is a finer body sherd gritted with a little angular quartz.
