Summary

Metal detecting here in 2004 recovered a variety of metal objects and coins. Finds included an elaborate post medieval belt mount, an Iron Age/Roman toggle, two Late Saxon strap ends, part of a post medieval sword belt hanger, a Roman dolphin brooch and two medieval hones.

Full description

July-August 2004. Metal-detecting in field containing NHER 7283 and NHER 7284.
4 Roman coins (3rd and 4th century), 1 brooch (dolphin type) and 1 strap/belt mount (peltoid).
2 medieval pottery sherds (strap handels inc 1 from glazed grimston), 2 stone hones and 1 buckle.
1 post-medieval token, 3 strap/belt hooked fittings, 1 belt mount, 1 sword belt hanger, 1 book clasp, 2 lead cloth seals, 1 sheet ferrule and 1 shoe buckle.
3 undated rings.

1 Iron Age/Roman toggle.
12 Roman coins and 1 brooch (hinged dolphin).
1 Late saxon stirrup terminal and 2 strap ends (inc 1 Winchester style).
1 medieval coin, 1 pottery sherd (jug rim) and 1 double hooked fastener.
5 medieval/post-medieval paper-clip rivets.
1 post-medieval jetton, 1 pottery sherd (lead glazed on both sides), 1 purse frame fragment, 2 belt mounts (inc 1bar), 1 candlestick fragment, 2 lead cloth seals, 1 book-clasp fragment, 1 hinge and 1 book clasp.
