Summary

An Iron Age coin, Roman coins, an Iron Age or Roman metal object have been found by metal detecting. This site has produced a number of Late Saxon objects, including an excellent example of a Middle or Late Saxon disc brooch with a back-turning beast, as well as rings, strap fittings and other Late Saxon metal finds. A Viking silver pendant, decorated with gold filagree, in the shape of Thor's hammer has been found on the site by a metal detectorist. Medieval and post medieval coins and metal finds have also been found.

August 2003. Metal detecting. Field 4.
1 Iron Age, 3 Roman, 7 medieval and 4 post medieval coins.
1 post medieval jetton.
Iron Age/Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and post medieval metal objects (including Late Saxon silver gilded Thor's hammer pendant).
Late Saxon finds outstanding in number and quantity.

The Late Saxon silver Thor's hammer pendant was submitted as potential Treasure (Treasure case 2003 T241), declared Treasure at inquest on 23 July 2004 and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2005.721). See (S1).
