Summary

Metal-detecting here in 2002 and 2005 recovered a variety of metal objects. Finds of note included part of a medieval lead ampulla, an Iron Age silver coin of the Iceni, a post-medieval copper alloy candlestick holder and staff ferrule. Metal-detecting between 2009 and 2019 recovered a Romano-British greyware pottery sherd; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and metal objects dating to a range of periods. These metal objects included a fragment of Bronze Age socketed axehead; a Middle/Late Bronze Age unidentified object; a Late Saxon buckle frame and bridle bit; a medieval lead pot mend, casket mount, seal matrix, horse harness pendant and vessel leg; medieval/post-medieval cooking vessel fragments, padlock case, thimble, knife end stop and weights; post-medieval dress accessories, cloth seal and weight and an undatable furniture fitting.

Late Saxon stirrup strap mount; medieval lead pilgrim ampulla and one coin; medieval/post-medieval button and copper alloy vessel leg and foot; post-medieval coin weight, jetton and three coins and an undated, unidentified copper alloy object.

A Bronze Age socketed axehead fragment; four Roman coins; a Late Saxon buckle frame and bridle bit; a medieval gold angel coin and three other medieval coins; a medieval casket mount, horse harness pendant, clasp plate, buckle, vessel leg and vessel repair patch; a medieval/post-medieval thimble, purse bar mount and knife end stop and three post-medieval coins, a lead-alloy weight, belt mount, buckle and cloth seal.
