Summary

Metal-detecting between 2008 and 2016 recovered prehistoric worked flint; Roman and medieval pottery sherds; a Roman coin hoard as well as Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman copper alloy spoon; an Early Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch; a Middle Saxon strap-end; a Late Saxon brooch; medieval dress accessories, horse harness pendants, a harness mount, seal matrix and pot-mend and a post-medieval trader's token, coin weight, lead weight, pocket sundial and an 18th century copper alloy figurine of Mercury.

Field survey on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Field 42).
Finds recovered included:
11 worked flints.
1 Roman coin.
1 medieval pottery sherd.
1 post-medieval copper alloy button, 3 buckles, 1 furniture handle and 1 copper alloy fitting.
1 ?post-medieval lead cloth seal.
1 undatable copper alloy nail, 1 copper alloy sheet fragment, 1 copper alloy strip, 1 copper alloy waste fragment, 1 copper alloy unidentified object, 1 lead guano tag, 1 lead ?guano tag, 2 lead weights, 2 lead waste fragments and 8 miscellaneous lead objects.

The Roman hoard coins was submitted as potential Treasure, along with those recovered in November 2008 (Treasure case 2010 T678). They were declared Treasure at inquest on 7 January 2011 and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2011.552).
