Name:Multi-period finds and undated linear features, site of Northall Manor

Summary

1973 aerial photography shows the cropmarks of linear features. Fieldwalking before 1974 recovered Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pottery fragments and a medieval brooch from the site of a medieval manor house. Fieldwalking from 1980 to 1997 recovered Iron Age, Roman, Early Saxon, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery fragments. Metal detecting in 1995 recovered a Roman brooch, a Late Saxon strap end and medieval metalwork.

1973. Ordnance Survey air photography. Linear cropmarks.

Before 1974.Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pottery, medieval brooch from manorial site.
1980. Fieldwalking produced Early Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval sherds.
1982. Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval, post medieval, Iron Age and Roman sherds found.
1995. Metal detecting. Roman brooch, Late Saxon strap end, medieval metalwork.
1997. Fieldwalking. Late Saxon/medieval, post medieval sherds.
