Summary

A complex of narrow rectangular enclosures of unknown date are visible on aerial photographs.
Metal-detecting between 1998 and 2013 recovered Roman, Late Saxon and medieval pottery sherds; medieval roof tile fragments; a Roman tessera; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and Roman and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include
a Roman brooch; a Late Saxon bridle cheek piece; medieval and post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval harness pendant and a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy ring.

Full description

1931. Context 1.
At location [1] in 1931 Dr. Philip Laver told R. R. Clarke he had found Roman sherds and tesserae.
However a site of his of similar description in Grimston turned out to be Late Saxon, the Roman sherds being Thetford Ware.
Information from A. Rogerson (NAU)

1974. Field west of Vong Farm.
Covered with cropmarks of superimposed small rectangular and long narrow enclosures, concentrated especially in northeast corner and to south along road.

Site visited by A. Rogerson (NAU) 5 May 1977 in advance of construction of school.
Topsoil stripping not extensive enough to reveal any features.
Some Late Saxon and Saxo-Norman ware, and much medieval ware, all over site, but nothing Roman.
These finds marked as 3599/context 2.
