Summary

Extensive metal detecting carried out at this site during 1998-2006 recovered a variety of artefacts. Finds included a Middle Saxon strap end, a medieval French coin turned into a brooch, a medieval copper alloy seal matrix, a post medieval coin weight with ships and lions motif, a prehistoric flint flake, an Iron Age terret and fragments of two Roman bow brooches. Medieval to post-medieval metal finds were also recovered in 2011.

Four Roman coins.
Middle Saxon strap end (donated to NCM).

Find of 'Lebanese 15th century coin' identified at British Museum as a gros tournois of Philip III or IV, of France, AD 1270-95, turned into a coin brooch.
