Summary

Metal detecting between 1998 and 2005 and again in 2012 recovered prehistoric worked flint including a Neolithic flint scraper and a Bronze Age flint knife; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval jettons and Roman, Early Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an Early Saxon brooch; a Late Saxon stirrup strap mount; a medieval spindle whorl, strap-end, vessel fragments and weights; a medieval/post-medieval ring and vessel fragment and post-medieval dress accessories and a weight.

September-October 2000. Metal detecting.
Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount, (S1), Williams' Class A, Type 8, sub-triangular with zoomorphic head terminal at apex, smaller projecting heads on either side of base and at shoulders. Single lower fixing hole through angled flange and another below upper terminal, both with iron rivets, iron staining on reverse.
