Summary

Intensive metal detecting in 1997 recovered a huge number of metal finds and coins. Finds of interest include a Hod Hill type Roman brooch, post medieval soldering iron tip, late medieval sword scabbard chape with fleur-de-lis decoration and a copper alloy key. Prehistoric flint flakes and Roman pot sherds were also retrieved.

Identified by H.Geake (NCM): Belt or harness mount shaped like an axe-head, waisted with a narrow straight-ended top and a wide fan-shaped lower part. One bent-over and one missing attachment spike on reverse. Early post medieval date.
