Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting between 1975 and 2015 recovered late prehistoric struck flint, including flakes, cores, scrapers, piercers, blades, and spalls; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman flue tile and medieval/post-medieval pantile fragments; Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman furniture fittings, military harness or belt mounts, a brooch, furniture nail, lock-pin, handle from a knife and a steelyard weight; a Roman to medieval lead spindle whorl; Roman to post-medieval weights; an Early Saxon brooch; a Late Saxon brooch and stirrup-strap mount; a Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval brooch, pot mend, casket key, harness mount, whittle tang knife, suspension unit or holder for a lamp or censer and a box or 'house' from set of nested cup weights; a medieval/post-medieval spindle whorl, lead weights, crotal bell, iron shot and a copper alloy vessel leg and post-medieval crotal bells, cloth seals, an ampulla, coin weight, thimble and part of a pair of scissors.

1996-1997. Fieldwalking.
4 Roman grey ware sherds. Moderate to fine micaceous fabrics, including a large sherd from a single groove rim bowl with chamfered base and wavy line decoration mid wall.
Also 1 modern glazed sherd.
It is also said that badly corroded Roman copper alloy coins have been found here.

March 2009. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
A fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey recorded 126 objects including:
5 prehistoric flint scrapers, 3 piercers, 4 utilised pieces, 4 cores, 2 blades, 2 blade-like flakes, 46 flakes, 1 hammerstone and 17 debitage. One piercer on a blade may be Early Neolithic, but the remainder of the flint assemblage could not be closely dated (although it is likely to be of Late Neolithic or later date).

4 medieval pottery sherds.
1 ?medieval pot mend.
3 post-medieval coins (including love token made from a sixpence), 2 pottery sherds, 1 tin ampulla/measuring cup, 1 thimble, 1 cloth weight and 1 crotal bell.
3 undatable pieces of iron slag.
