Summary

Extensive metal-detecting at this location in 1995 recovered a range of multi-period metal objects. Noteworthy finds comprised a simply decorated Roman Dolphin type brooch, a fragment of a Late Bronze Age socketed axe blade, part of a Roman nail cleaner and a Roman patera handle fragment with scrolled decoration. Metal-detecting in 2008 recovered an undatable stone bead.

Roman Dolphin type brooch, 1st century AD. Spring mechanism, simply decorated with rib along length of bow and grooves on wings.
Medieval belt-chape with I H C on one face.

Roman brooch. Dolphin type with spring mechanism, bow with square section, three grooves running length of bow and around wings. 1st century. Identified J. Davies (NCM).
13th century belt stiffener, gilded, with brambled central boss.
Late Saxon bridle cheek piece terminal fragment.

Spherical head of Roman hair-pin, fragment of square-section shank.
Roman nail cleaner, incomplete, decorated on one side with ring-and-dot and grooved pattern.
Part of Roman bracelet, decorated with groups of three notches, alternating on either side of band.
Two Roman brooches:
Dolphin type, hinge mechanism, 1st century.
Trumpet type, bow only, with acanthus-style decoration. 1st/2nd century.
