Summary

Fieldwalking in 1994 found prehistoric flints, fragments of pottery dating from the Late Prehistoric to the post-medieval periods and post-medieval roof tile. In addition, metal-detecting between 2010 and 2014 has recovered a Neolithic/Bronze Age end scraper; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and Roman and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch; Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorls; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval lead Papal Bulla and harness mount; a medieval/post-medieval bell fragment, shoulder bolster from whittle tang knife and copper alloy vessel fragments and post-medieval crotal bells, a harness mount, thimble and a lead weight.
