Summary

Extensive metal-detecting between 1993 to 2015 recovered Iron Age, Roman and medieval pottery sherds; post-medieval clay tobacco pipe fragments; Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and tokens, including a medieval lead Boy Bishop token and Bronze Age to Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Bronze Age copper alloy ring; Early Iron Age/Roman unidentified object; a large Roman dolphin brooch, strap mount, furniture fitting, hair pin, nail and locking mechanism; Roman/Early Saxon belt stiffener; an Early Saxon brooch and ring; a possible Late Saxon triangular box mount and strap-end; Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval harness stud decorated with a lion passant, purse frame, pot mend, balance, spur and padlocks; medieval/post-medieval purse frames, a cloth seal, weight, book clasp, possible knife handle terminal and copper alloy vessel fragments and post-medieval weights, harness mounts, spur side, cloth seal, book clasp, bell, candle holder, powder measure, thimble and a knife handle end cap in the form of a horse's hoof.

Early Saxon cruciform brooch knob in the round with projecting bronze lug for attachment to headplate.
