Summary

Metal detecting here during the period 1993-2003 recovered a wealth of metal objects and pottery sherds. Finds of note included a splendid Late Saxon hooked mount in the Ringerike style, a square post medieval coin weight, an early post medieval double buckle, a Roman dolphin brooch and a fine medieval seal matrix with a bird motif and French inscription.

January - February 2000. Metal detecting.
Medieval/early post medieval lead token, undecorated on one face but with a relief cross in a relief border on the other face.
Post medieval 1oz lead trade weight, circular and with one face stamped with an uncuse circle (for one ounce) and a crowned CR (for Charles I, 1625-1649). Now weighs 25.93g (0.91oz).

4 Roman coins, 11 pottery sherds (1 mortarium, 10 Greyware), 2 furniture studs, 1 brooch (dolphin) and 1 lead steelyard weight.
1 ?Roman pottery sherd (oxidised).
1 Early Saxon brooch fragment (cruciform).
1 Middle Saxon brooch (ansate).
1 Late Saxon bell.
1 medieval jetton, 4 pottery sherds (unglazed), 2 buckle frames, 1 ewer handle, 1 sheet mount and 1 remarkable reading glass/hand lens.
2 medieval/post medieval cauldron feet and 2 fragments of vessel rims.
4 post-medieval coins. 3 jettons, 6 pottery sherds (GRE) and 2 book clasps.
2 undatable casting scrap fragments and 8 lead weights.
