Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting between 1991 and 2019 recovered a Neolithic flaked axehead; Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman flue tile and roof tile; Roman and medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and token and Roman to medieval/post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman nail, furniture stud, steelyard weight, copper alloy vessel mount, hair pin, key and brooches, including a very rare example of a gold bow brooch; an Early Saxon brooch; a Middle Saxon pin head; a Late Saxon bridle cheek piece and stirrup-strap mount; medieval buckles, harness mounts, a copper alloy cauldron foot, strap-end and harness mount or pendant and medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments.

Concentration of building material, Roman, few sherds.
No significant detector finds.

5 Roman tile fragments, including 1 tegula and 2 combed box (one with hole).
1 bowl red slipped Roman.
26 Roman greyware, including 2 bead with flange bowl rims, 2 bowl rims and 5 jar rims.
Medieval cauldron foot (Identified by S. Margeson, (NCM)).

Neolithic flint axe, Roman coin, Romano-British sherds.
Romano-British metal objects including gold crossbow brooch (S1 and S3) and a mount possibly from a vessel (S4), Late Saxon stirrup strap mount and medieval harness mount.
The Roman gold crossbow brooch was submitted as possible Treasure (Ref: 2007 T236), declared Treasure in 2008 and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2009.232).
