Summary

Extensive metal detecting and fieldwalking here between 1989 and 2007 recovered a large number of metal objects, coins and pottery sherds. Finds of note included a medieval sheet bronze vessel handle escutcheon, a beautiful Middle/Late Saxon strap end with Ringerike style decoration, a 10th century Anglo-Scandinavian bead or pin head, a fine medieval annular brooch with gilding, a Middle Saxon stylus and a post medieval cloth seal inscribed with ‘I W’. Prehistoric flint implements were also recovered.
