Summary

In 1972 an iron staple was recovered from the flint and mortar buttress of the medieval city wall opposite Caleys main gates. Sadly the buttress here was badly damaged and partly demolished by an articulated lorry going into Caleys.

November 1972.
Iron staple from flint and mortar buttress of city wall opposite Caleys main gates. Buttress badly damaged and partly demolished by articulated lorry going into Caleys (Mackintoshes).
