Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking from 1989 to 1995 recovered a number of Roman coins and a concentration of Roman pottery sherds, as well as Roman objects including a brooch, a cosmetic palette and a pair of Late Roman strap ends. A Late Saxon strap fitting, a possible medieval strap fitting and a post medieval token were also recovered, as well as a small number of medieval coins and pottery sherds.

May 1989. Metal detecting and fieldwalking.
Concentration of Roman finds.
Eight Roman coins- see list (identified by D. Gurney), one Roman colour-coat, one Calcite-gritted, three oxidised, one medieval Glazed Grimston. [1]

December 1994. Metal detector finds.
Two Roman coin and one post medieval token.
Identified by J. Davies (NCM).
Trefoil strap union with central boss, ?Late Saxon. Internal diameter of each circle 10mm, width of whole 33mm.
Medieval ?strap end. Scalloped edge, cross-hatching with punched dots with each lozenge. Spade-shaped end. Length 59mm.

Ring, rounded section hoop, chain. ?Roman.
Part of late Roman strap ends; narrow end missing, broad end damaged, parts of two rivet holes. On one face multiple ring-and-dots. On other 'chip-carved' ?animal motif with openwork, within cross-hatched border.
