Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 1988-91 recovered a variety of metal objects and coins. Finds included Roman brooches, finger rings, a bracelet, sherds of pottery and numerous coins. Medieval and post medieval metalwork and coins were also recovered and the presence of several Iron Age or Roman pits was noted.

Full description

1988 onwards. Metal detector finds in field immediately north of Roman road 8756. See sketch plan in file by finder.
Forty-six Roman coins.
Eight brooches.
Two finger rings.
Bracelet.
Medieval and post medieval metal work and coins.
Includes former site 25281.

15-19 April 1991. Metal-detecting Survey.
Systematic survey by [1] of proposed development area with all artefact located within a 25m grid across the area. Finds recovered included:
13 Roman coins.
3 medieval jettons, 1 bowl rim and 1 unidentified object.
