Summary

Metal-detecting between 1980 and 2020 recovered an undated blue glass bead, an Upper Palaeolithic flint scraper, Late Prehistoric and Neolithic to Bronze Age worked flint including a projectile point, an Early Neolithic end scraper, and Neolithic scrapers, Neolithic/Bronze Age flakes and scrapers, and an Early Bronze Age scraper; Iron Age to post-medieval pottery sherds; a Roman box flue tile fragment; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and tokens and Late Iron Age/Roman, Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Late Iron Age/Roman mount in the shape of an ox or bull's head; Roman brooches, a harness mount and terret; an Early Saxon brooch and buckle; a Late Saxon disc brooch; medieval buckles, an annular brooch, purse hanger, folding strap clasp, thimble, and standing weight; medieval/post-medieval buttons, a purse bar fragment, mount, and the end-cap from a scale-tang knife and post-medieval buckles, a harness mount, lead weights, a crotal bell and eye-plate from a dress fastener.

1980 onwards from finders field 2. Metal-detecting and surface finds over middle and north part of field, and just spreading into next field to east. [1]

Note that contexts 2 to 5 were originally recorded as part of NHER 15840, but it now transpires that they were found to the east of the field boundary.
