Summary

Metal-detecting between 1987 and 2016 recovered prehistoric flint flakes including a Bronze Age scraper and flakes; Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval and post-medieval coins; a medieval/post-medieval jetton and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman brooches, a pendant, military harness mount or pendant and finger ring; an Early/Middle Saxon patrix; a Middle Saxon caterpillar brooch; a Middle to Late Saxon copper alloy strap-end of unusual design; a Late Saxon Borre-style strap-end, bridle cheek piece and fragment of an important Late Saxon stirrup with an integral plate, one of only two known in Britain; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval seal matrices, a silver finger ring, thimble, page holder and harness pendant or suspension mount; a medieval/post-medieval furniture hinge and spur rowel and a post-medieval belt or harness mount, silver brooch, bodkin fragment and hooked mount from a sword belt.

Fine Middle Saxon caterpillar brooch with line of three ring-and-dots on each terminal, mouldings on bow and at junctions of bow and terminals, and remains of iron pin.

Silver penny, probably Edward I 1272-1307, London mint.
?Medieval copper alloy discoidal ?weight or decorative boss with equal-armed cross, chip-carved spandrels (one with enamel traces). Weight 2.615g.
