Summary

A Roman puddingstone quern was ploughed up in 1980. Metal-detecting between 2005 and 2020 recovered prehistoric flint flakes and a Neolithic scraper; medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a medieval jetton and Iron Age, Roman and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an Iron Age terret; Roman brooch and openwork key handle; a unusual Late Saxon stirrup terminal; a Late Saxon/medieval key; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval seal matrix and harness pendant; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and a post-medieval crotal bell, ferrule, finger ring and harness mount.

The medieval silver seal matrix was submitted as potential Treasure (Treasure case 2008 T532), declared Treasure on 1 October 2010 and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2010.175).
