Summary

Aerial photographs taken in 1976 show the cropmarks of a possible Bronze Age ring ditch at this location. Subsequent metal detecting here in 1987 recovered a Late Iron Age/early Roman terret, a possible 4th century coin, a medieval bronze ring brooch and medieval and post medieval buckles.

Full description

1976. Ordnance Survey aerial photograph.
Cropmarks of ring ditch 17m in diameter.
Site identified by King's Lynn Office of Ordnance Survey, reported by (S1) and photography inspected by D. Edwards (NAU).

1987. Found at this site, or at NHER 16160.
1) Late Iron Age/early Roman terret (compare to NHER 9382)
2) Possible 4th century coin
3) 15th/16th century bronze circular buckle. Five decorated 'lobes', tongue missing.
4) Medieval bronze purse-bar with swivel loop. See for comparison LMMC type B1.
5) 13th century bronze ring brooch, set with two bosses containing white paste (possibly once had glass pellets). Eight tiny pins set regularly between the two bosses; pin looped through hole in ring.
6) Medieval D-shaped buckle frame.
