Summary

Aerial photographs taken in 1976 and 1978 show the cropmarks of two possible Bronze Age ring ditches at this location. Subsequent metal detecting here in 1987 recovered a Late Iron Age/early Roman terret, a possible 4th century coin, a medieval bronze ring brooch, a medieval seal matrix decorated with the Agnus Dei and medieval and post medieval buckles.

Cropmarks of two ring ditches, first at [1] approximately 25m, second at [2] approximately 35m diameter respectively.

1987. Found at this site or at NHER 15540.
1) Late Iron Age/early Roman terret (compare to NHER 9382)
2) Possible 4th century coin.
3) 13th century bronze ring brooch, set with two bosses containing white paste (possibly once held glass pellets); eight tiny pins set regularly between the two bosses. Pin looped through hole on ring. Ring is flat and slightly facetted.
4) 14th century pointed oval bronze seal-matrix with Lamb of God above a pair of birds. Legend: ECCE ANGVS DEI NRE:E:C (yes misspelled Agnus).
5) Medieval bronze purse-bar with swivel loop (see for comparison LMMC type BI).
6) Medieval bronze D-shaped buckle frame.
15th/16th century bronze circular buckle with five 'lobes'.
All Polaroid NCM (except coin).
