Summary

A scatter of Neolithic flints and fragments of medieval pottery were found during fieldwalking in 1978. Metal-detecting between 2011 and 2017 recovered Neolithic/Bronze Age flint scrapers, flakes, a knife and core; further medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons; a post-medieval token and undatable, Iron Age to Roman and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an undatable copper alloy ring; an Iron Age/Roman terret; Roman brooches; Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorls; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval brooches, a seal matrix, thimble, casket key, mount, harness fitting and a harness mount; a medieval/post-medieval coin weight and copper alloy vessel fragments and post-medieval crotal bells, a harness mount, toy musket, silver finger ring, hinge and spindle, lead palm guard, sword belt clasp and a spur.

1978. On ploughed surface.
Flint scatter about 100m square, and outliers some distance around.
Also 3 unglazed medieval sherds, including 2 rims.

January-February 2008. Site extended.
1 Roman coin.
2 medieval pottery sherds (inc 1 Grimston) and 1 buckle.
1 medieval/post-medieval vessel leg and 1 candle stick fragment.
1 post-medieval pottery sherd (GRE), 3 buckle frames, 1 side of a spur and 1 lead cloth seal.
1 ?post-medieval lead weight.
