Name:Site of Godwick Hall

Summary

Godwick Hall was built on the site of the deserted medieval settlement of Godwick (NHER 1104). The land was acquired from the Drurys by Sir Edward Coke, the then Chief Justice under Elizabeth I, in 1580. Godwick Hall was built in 1586, presumably along with the adjacent barn (NHER 1102), and was of red brick with a diaper of vitrified blue brick. It was demolished in the 1960s, having long been in ruins.
