This 13th century church has a tall western tower which was damaged by lightning in 1940 but has now been repaired. The church was extended in the 14th century and greatly rebuilt in the 15th. It has a collection of late 16th century armour and the oldest identifiable tombs in Norfolk - those of Matilda de Clare and her son - dating to the late 13th century.

A. Rogerson (NLA), 16 September 1996.
Late C13 chancel; C14 nave and ogee south door; C15 tower, north porch, nave roof and clerestory. Complex late geometric east window tracery of exceptional quality does not fit the opening in the east wall. An early replacement? Very fine ogee arch to south door. C14 arcades. Founders' tombs in chancel with potent crosses - the cross of the Knights Hospitallers before their later retreat to Malta. North porch with fine tieceron vault with carved bosses. The north door into the porch was blocked with brickwork in mid C20? and the room at present is to be fitted with a lavatory.
