Full description

'Southwest of large mound on south side or triangle of roads is a bowl barrow'.
R. R. Clarke (NCM).

(Large mound; NHER 6208?).

14m in diameter, 30cm high, covered with gorse on heath.
A.J. Lawson (NAU), 30 January 1974.

Bolding map 1850 number 17.

Invisible in 1984 but heath fire revealed it in 1986.
No change in details. No ditch, some (wartime?) disturbance on south edge otherwise intact.
J. Wymer (NAU).

Revised scheduling (S1) 1995 gives dimensions as 15m by 0.8m high and includes line of seven small mounds, part of NHER 6212 as described under that number.
E. Rose (NLA), 27 October 1995.

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The site of a Bronze Age barrow site is visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S2). The barrow is obscured by heath land vegetation on the majority of the available aerial photography and it appears on the 1946 aerial photographs that military activity and tracks are going over the site. The barrow as visible appears to be approximately 13-14m in diameter, which is roughly consistent with previous recordings, especially considering the contemporary disturbance on the 1946 images. The smaller barrows grouped under this site are dealt with during the NMP recording of NHER 6212.
All of these barrows are part of a larger dispersed cemetery (NHER 38629).
S. Massey (NMP), 8 January 2003.

May 2003. Field observations.
NGR for large barrow obtained by GPS = TG 06788 42438.
Carefully cleared, but gorse stumps still in situ.
Also 5 certain, probable or possible mini barrows found (shown as points on GIS).
See note in file.
D. Gurney (NLA), 18 June 2003.
