Summary

Metal-detecting in 2002 and 2005 recovered a Mesolithic to Early Neolithic flint blade core; undatable prehistoric flint flakes and several extremely large fragments of Roman amphora pottery (one fragment weighed over 1.5kg).

Full description

October-November 2002. Metal-detecting.
Within area of cropmarks (NHER 13019):
1 Roman pottery sherd. Truly massive sherd of Roman amphora, hard reduced with pink surfaces (weighing 1.544kg, measuring maximum 260 x maximum 200mm, average 18mm thick).

February-March 2005. Metal-detecting.
Found in middle of field:
1 Mesolithic or Early Neolithic flint blade core.
6 undatable prehistoric blade-like flint flakes, 1 retouched/utilised flake and 14 unmodified flakes.
3 Roman pottery sherds (additional large amphora sherds).
