Full description

1997. Metal detecting finds.
Middle Saxon, most of an ansate brooch. Surviving terminal is triangular, with lobe at each corner decorated with single ring-and-dot. The top of bow is flattened with a lobe at each side, and decorated with four ring-and-dots. The whole brooch has a single-grooved border and a central longitudinal groove. Remains of a large transverse pin bar lug on reverse. 8th/9th century. See (S1).
