Full description

1993. Fieldwalking. Finder's fields M20 and M21.
Iron Age, Roman, Late Saxon, medieval, post-medieval pottery.
Medieval roofing tile.
See list in file.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 22 October 1993.

January 1998. Metal-detecting. Finds at [1].
Late Iron Age brooch, like Hull type 1a, Hattatt's 'Knotenfibel' type, a La Tene derivative. Made in one piece of basically circular section. The front of the bow is facetted. The pin is missing, but half of the spring plus its chord survive. The bow has a 'button' - a roundel moulding with collar above and below - below a right-angled curve. The bow is then fairly straight down to a bent and broken foot, with a fragmentary perforated catchplate. Very similar to, but smaller than, (S1). It even has the same spring chord arrangement, running above rather than below the spring, which is unusual.
1st century BC or early 1st century AD.
See (S2).
A. Rogerson (NLA), 27 February 1998.

February 1999. Metal-detecting.
Late medieval/early post-medieval jetton. See lists in file with grid reference.
16th century double-looped buckle frame, both loops identical. Outer edges are incurved internally and there are lozengiform knops at the pin rests, decorated with border grooves. Mouldings and the ends of the bar, each decorated with 'V'-shaped grooves. Found at [2].
Identified by H. Geake (NCM).
