Summary

An archaeological watching brief during the construction of a new water main recovered pieces of medieval window tracery, three medieval floor tiles, a glazed brick, two medieval roof tiles, a piece of medieval pot and a medieval mortar. These may come from Marham Abbey (NHER 4483).

Full description

1992. Fieldwalking and Metal-detector Survey and Watching Brief.
Marham/Stow Bridge Pipeline.
Initial field survey of pipeline route followed by monitoring of topsoil stripping and excavation of pipe trench.
Medieval window tracery and building material. Possibly from Abbey?
Two medieval floor tiles plus another impressed but not Bawsey.
One glazed brick.
Two medieval roof tiles.
The medieval sherd is Grimston. Medieval mortar also found.
