Full description

May 1889.
In modern cemetery at depth of 90cm (3 feet).
Hoard of six socketed axes and four fragments; fragments of slashing sword; seven ingots of copper alloy; two jets; fragment of palstave. Also charcoal, part of stone hone, and medieval glazed pot handle.
(S1) lists only six ingots and not the four axe fragments.
(S2) and (S3) give twelve socketed axes, six ingots, two lumps cake.
R. R. Clarke (NCM).

1981.
Two socketed axes from this hoard in Bishop Bonner's Cottages Museum, so perhaps (S3) was right, or these are some of Clarke's 'four fragments'. Note that Clarke had altered the number of socketed axes and fragments on his card.
E. Rose (NAU) and A. J. Lawson (NAU), 6 November 1981.
