A city gate was situated on the west end of Bishop's Bridge until 1791. It is said to have been built by Richard Spynk in the 13th or 14th centuries.

Full description

On west end of Bishop Bridge.
(S1) mentions that Bishop could build houses and gate on the bridge. Built by Richard Spynk, came to city ownership after 1393. Gateway removed 1791.
