Summary
Metal detecting recovered a range of finds dating from the Late Saxon to the post medieval period. These include a Late Saxon lead brooch, a medieval shield-shaped enamelled harness stud, a fragment of a handle of a medieval frying pan and a post medieval spoon. Medieval and post medieval coins were also found.

Full description
October 1989. Metal detecting. North of Union Square.
Late Saxon? Lead rectangular brooch fragment, decorated with foliage and rosettes. H shaped lug on reverse and traces of iron pin.
Early post medieval double looped buckle, rosette decoration at each outer edge of frame (tongue-rests).
