Summary

The remains of medieval tofts are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. An Iron Age or Roman brooch, and medieval and post medieval coins and metalwork, including part of a 14th century dog leash or belt fitting, found by metal detecting.

Positive cropmarks of toft(s).

1988. Metal detecting find.
Copper alloy rectangular moulded strap or belt fitting, or dog leash, with decorated openwork strap end on one side and swivelling tag on the other, 14th century. Decoration on strap end is fleur de lys on scored ground and openwork 'arch' containing tendril and leaf.

1992. Fieldwalking and Metal-detector Survey and Watching Brief.
Marham/Stow Bridge Pipeline.
Initial field survey of pipeline route followed by monitoring of topsoil stripping and excavation of pipe trench.
4 medieval pottery sherds (1 sherd glazed Grimton, 3 unglazed Grimston, 1 bowl rim of latter).

1998. Metal detecting. At [1].
Iron Age/Roman one piece Colchester brooch, with stubs of flat wings, a forward facing hook and one turn of the spring surviving. The bow is relatively chunky and of flattened section; the foot is a bit bent and only a stub of catchplate survives. Late Iron Age or Roman. 1st century AD.
