Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting recovered a medieval buckle, harness, seal matrix, part of a copper alloy vessel and fragments of a child's skeleton. Pieces of Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery were also found.

Full description

December 1988. Fieldwalking and metal detecting.
Three Roman greyware sherds including one rim.
Thetford type ware sherds including three rims and one base.
Medieval pottery including six grey sherds, green glazed Grimston and one early medieval ware rim.
Cast bronze vessel fragment.
13th century bronze buckle. See (S1).
Fragment of bronze harness pendant, probably. See (S1).
Post medieval lead glazed earthenware sherds.
Fragmentary child's skeletal remains.

14th century bronze strap end. Buckle pin missing.

1990. Metal detected find
Medieval bronze circular seal matrix, with circular suspension loop S' ?GO? DE NETVNNE in centre, cross on a triangular base, flanked by sun and crescent moon.
16th century silver oval seal matrix with hound within beaded border
Handle broken off.
