Summary

Casual finds during strawberry picking at this site included a prehistoric flint flake, Late Saxon and medieval pottery fragments and a medieval roof tile fragment. Later metal detecting at the same site recovered a wide range of finds from the Roman to the medieval period. Highlights include a Roman brooch, a Late Saxon Offa penny dated to 1089 and a large number of medieval buckles.

Full description

1988. Found, very casually, on surface while picking strawberries.
One flint flake.
Two probably Thetford type body sherds.
Three medieval unglazed sherds.
Three glazed Grimston sherds.
One probably glazed Grimston sherd.
One peg tile fragment, probably medieval.
Prolific pottery (mostly small sherds) considering small amount of bare ground.
Extent of scatter not defined.

James I/Charles I 1603 to 1649 post medieval copper alloy coin weight. Square. Four annulets on each broad face. Counter mark very worn, possibly a lion. Weight 5.95g.
