Summary

Cropmarks of two undated parallel lines can be seen on an aerial photograph. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked flints. Two concentrations of prehistoric burnt flints were recorded.

Positive cropmarks. Two x linear features. Parallel linear features.

26 February 1988. Fenland fieldwalking. Field north of New Covert, southeast quadrant of island.
Well weathered ploughsoil.

Context 1. HLG BY.
General scatter odd flints, no lithic concentrations. HLG BY.

Context 2 at 6353 9706. HLG 19.
Concentration of sparse pot boilers, one flint (marked with context 1) dark staining of soil visible on ground, not so clear on aerial photograph. On almost flat area of mineral soil. 39m northwest to southeast x 37m northeast to southwest at 2.1m OD.

Context 3 at 6341 9692. HLG 20.
Concentration of pot boilers sparse, occasionally sparse to moderate, slight soil staining. On flattish area of mineral soil. 27m nortwest to southeast x 30m northeast to southwest at 1.5m OD.
