Name:Possible Neolithic settlement in triangular field east of Hogg's Drove

Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a concentration of pieces of Neolithic pot, animal bone and Early to Middle Neolithic worked flints. An auger survey revealed that significant deposits relating to the Early Neolithic are preserved here. This may be the location of an Early to Middle Neolithic settlement.

Full description

26 February 1987. Fenland fieldwalking weathered and harrowed soil. MRM 16.
Sparse to moderate concentration of flints with a couple of bone fragments. Four prehistoric sherds only a couple of fire cracked flints. On north side low chalk ridge just emerging from peat. Maximum 31m north to south x 22m east to west at 4.3m OD.
