Record Details

NHER Number:23045
Type of record:Monument
Name:Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age occupation site and multi-period finds, Methwold Hythe

Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a concentration of prehistoric worked flints, including a leaf-shaped arrowhead, with a few pieces of pot and many burnt flints from a sandhill. The finds are dated to Late Neolithic and Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age. Later excavation revealed four shallow depressions some of which produced pottery and struck flints. These may be the remains of heavily truncated pits or tree throw-holes. These features may be indicative of occupation.
